Textile on the ceiling: a familiar technique, used differently

A design does not always require a new technique. For this Pilates studio, we used a construction method we already knew in a completely different way: to create a textile solution for the ceiling.

Familiar technique, new application

For a new Pilates studio, we were asked to create a textile solution for the ceiling. The design required a large piece of fabric with wide tunnels, allowing the textile to be installed in sections across the ceiling.

For this unusual application, we could build on our experience with Roman blinds. Part of the construction follows the same principle, but here we used it in a different way. A familiar confection method became the basis for a completely different result.

It is not simply about making a large piece of textile. The position and width of the tunnels determine how the fabric hangs and falls in the space. That is why the technical details and the design had to work together from the start.

The result is a solution made specifically for this space, based on a technique we already knew.

For us, custom-made does not always mean starting from scratch. Sometimes the solution comes from looking differently at what you already know.
